Welcome to Inline Muzzleloader

Inline MuzzleloaderThe inline muzzleloader has brought a whole new dimension, as well as an extended hunting season to many deer hunters across the country. I remember my first muzzleloader. It was a cap and ball type that I had purchased about thirty years ago, before the inline muzzleloader was even thought of. It was a good gun and I actually did get a deer with it.

Muzzleloaders of the day back then had an effective range of about 100 yards which was pretty good for a cap and ball type. They were very accurate also. Like everything I suppose, technology advanced and the inline muzzleloader was the result.

The Inline Muzzleloader

The modern day inline muzzleloader is now much easier to load and clean which was something that was always a chore with older muzzle loading rifles. Performance and accuracy have also advanced with the inline muzzleloader. Effective distance of today’s modern inline is up to and beyond 250 yards. High powered rifle scopes can easily be mounted on today’s rifle giving the user a high powered weapon that is capable of taking game at much greater distances than the older cap and ball muzzleloader.

More Hunting With an Inline Muzzleloader

Just like bowhunting, the muzzleloader season allows the deer hunter additional hunting seasons then those who hunt with a modern day firearm alone. Muzzleloading seasons typically occur prior to or after the general modern firearm season, which allows muzzleloader hunters to get additional time in the woods. Hunting pressure is often lighter than the modern firearm season as well.

I recommend only those familiar with firearms begin using a muzzleloader, either inline or traditional. A rifle or a shotgun is much simpler to shoot and maintain and the knowledge gained will aid the new muzzleloader hunter in using his weapon and keeping it in good working order.

The muzzleloader I use now is a far cry from the one I began with over thirty years ago. I have graduated to an inline muzzleloader with a modern camo stock and have added a 3×9 scope. It hardly seems primitive anymore but the performance of this new muzzleloader is much more reliable and accurate.

If you enjoy deer hunting, consider a modern inline muzzleloader to give you more time in the woods and participating in the sport you love.
